Belfast Castle Wedding

The Venue

Belfast Castle is a truly unique venue. A 12th Century castle that has become a cornerstone of Northern Irelands landmarks. It offers stunning scenery, exquisite gardens and is located at the heart of Cave hill, overlooking Belfast and the lough.

The historical venue puts your mind at ease with its natural environment surrounding the castle. The beautifully designed gardens create a fantasy-like atmosphere.

The couple

Louise & Chris had reached out to me as I was the wedding photographer of Louise’s brother, Kevin. We spoke briefly and I went through my process of how I approach each wedding. Louise and Chris were so easy going and happy for me to be their wedding photographer.

The Wedding

I met Louise on the morning of the wedding as she was staying at her parent’s house on the Antrim Road, a literal stone throw away from the venue. The sun was out in full force and the stage was set was a magical day. I photographed the morning segment and everything was like clockwork. Once I was finished, I made my way to Belfast Castle at the top of the hill. 

There I caught up with Chris as he was meeting and greeting his guests to their day. I also reunited with Louise’s brother Kevin and his lovely wife, Janice. The time had come to get the show started and after I grabbed a couple of photographs of Louise in a private room in the castle, we were all ready for the wedding to begin.

The wedding service was indeed a humanist wedding and it was so beautiful the way it was conducted. The bride and groom had the opportunity to say their vows they made themselves for each other. It was very emotional between the two!
